Alta Badia and its surroundings

What to visit, see and do in Alta Badia

Alta Badia represents a touristic region with thousand opportunities, renowned over all for its winter tourism thanks to a well-equipped ski area with perfectly prepared pistes and high quality services.

The most precious jewel of Alta Badia is represented by its nature and the Dolomites. Both in winter and summer the wonderful views of Val Badia will fascinate and touch you.

Alta Badia is located between two natural world heritage parks: the Natural Park Fanes- Senes- Braies on the east and the Natural Park of Puez-Odle on the west. Both present plateaus, water streams and spectacular peaks to discover and conquer one by one.

There are really a lot of possible sports activities in Alta Badia, from skiing to snowboarding during winter and from excursions to mountain bike during summer. But you can opt also for climbing, paragliding, free riding, via ferratas (iron roads), orienteering, speed hiking, trail running and much more.

Beyond nature Val Badia is very peculiar also for its culture and language. Ladin culture and language have been preserved until today thanks to the particular morphology of this valley. Also ladin cuisine will be able to delight your palate, while the numerous typical constructions (“les viles”) will let you feel nostalgic about bygone days, when population was completely self-sufficient. The best place to discover something about ladin culture is represented by the Museum Ladin Ciastel de Tor in San Martino di Badia.

Another very interesting museum is placed in the centre of San Cassiano and dedicated to the cave bear.
